Finger positions are a matter of relativity. There do very much exist and most definitely are the BEST way to play the theremin. It is much easier to find the notes and any person that says that it isn't has never tried learning the positions themselves.

"Finger" positions have little or nothing to do with it. You can keep all your fingers in the same relative positions and still play perfectly on key, if you provide the correct sequence of average distances. Fingering for theremins is a giant myth originated by Clara Rockmore, and while it is valid for stylized articulation, it is not, by any means, the "only" way to play a theremin, and is in fact cumbersome.
