IBM, how it all started - Hollerith Census Machine 1889, the company TMC later changed its name to International Business Machine - IBM.
On December 3, 1886, Herman Hollerith (1860-1929) organized the Tabulating Machine Company (TMC) with an initial capitalization of $100,000 http://www.computermuseum.li/Testpage/IBM-Chronology.htm
