  • @ Dozer, same here

    Problems:

Input on all channels while there is no input,

hiss, digital spikes, white noise, not finding the

templates any longer, not findin the audiodock any longer,

    peakmeters going red,

    channels redding out,

starting up in 48 khz which doesn't work well on the emu and which should be 44 khz, often all lights on the audiodock are lit

When this all occurs, recording nor playback is possible, it's useless.

This thing isn't yet 2 years old and already failing, what a shame.

  • Your Emu 1820m PCI card has a defective DC converter and it is Dying.

My Emu 1820m died just after warranty expired. The Host is OK . The Defective part is the PCI card. Emu people set the Power supply for the Host in the PCI card. SO much for Engineering. It is a badly design Unit.

    Emu people will not help

  • Absolutely .. great info, I fixed mine today .. same caps .. I couldn't get them at radio shack but I remember I had an old Exitigy that I don't use anymore .. opened it up and voila !!! Two caps just like what I needed. So far so good. Everything is working.

  • Thanks :) glad to hear it

  • Honey, you've got to get a freakin medal for this post. Our 1820M at first made some erratic pops and then just went and quit with a thin squealing noise whenever power was applied. I decided to check those same capacitors and they not just puffed up, they blew their bottoms out. I replaced them and the 1820 not only started working again, but also I could put away the cattle prod that had been needed as of late to even get it going after rebooting the computer.

  • I had a similar issue and i just fixed it last night, Two capacitors (680uf 10v) had swelled causing eratic pops and noises, replaced them both and all is ok, i love the 1820 :)

  • I also have the 1820 emu. works flawless.

you need a power conditioner for your studio. It eleminates unwanted sounds caused by the power lines and wiring of your house. should fix you up.

  • That card is fucking trash.

I have it along with a XFI, and the drivers are so horrible I can even have both drivers installed at the same time.

I've also had major latency and dsp issues with essentially every daw.

    This card is trash.

  • That solution the support presented for you?

I am with the same problem here, but I am in Brazil: - (

  • I'm glad you posted this. I was going to buy a Emu1820M. Noise and Latency have always been annoyances for me with intrnl and ext sound cards. The warranty should start over when you buy it new! That's not right!!
