The date was January 12th, 1963. The Professional Bowlers Tour staged a national tournament at the Celebrity Lanes, a center in Denver, Colorado. It features two well known combatants Andy Marzich and J.B. Solomon. Unfortunately Andy passed away on May 18th, 2010 due to cancer. He was 74 years of age. Andy was a multi-title winner on the pro tour and inducted into the PBA hall of fame back in 1990. I would like to send my condolences to Andy's family. Part 2 of 2

  • It's a sample rate problem with the audio. Chances are this was originally encoded at 48 KHz, but got converted to 44.1, causing the Mickey Mouse sound (Chris Schenkel last sounded like this before his voice changed when he was about 12 years old -- HA!).

  • I believe this was the first tournament ABC carried as part of their weekly "Pro Bowlers Tour" series in the Winter and early Spring.

If my memory serves me correct, ABC carried the final day of the 1962 Tournament Of Champions on "Wide World Of Sports", and the enormous success of that telecast led ABC to pick-up the entire PBA Winter/early Spring tour the next year.

The audio is compressed, so it is slightly off at the beginning and keeps getting farther off as the video progresses.

  • irishpogi-Thank you for posting this. In my Dads final weeks, we talked often of his career and his love for bowling. This video is precious to me, given how old he was at the time, and will be a wonderful thing for me to share with my own grandkids in the future. I appreciate your kind words, and your acknowledgement of him by posting this. John Marzich

  • @stephenboy8 Now if the people at youtube will only get their act together and process part 1 I'd be a happy camper! I do not know what's taking them so long to do such a routine task!
