What an historical clip!
And that other mandolin player behind Jethro is Don Steirnberg ....who became THE Jethro Disciple ...Don still plays in the Chicago area..... and is really good.

Chet didn't play the guitar....he made love to it.

At around 6:30 on Blackbird, you look over Chets left shoulder and see a woman with a black blouse and white neck scarf type thing on. That is Jethros wife, and Chets wife to her right. You see them several times actually, but again at about 2:35 and 4:00. I read once that if you saw Chet, chances were that she was nearby. Studying up on Chet is very interesting, quite a man for sure.

Mr. Guitar makes it look so easy and casual, doesn't he? I think I could do it to, if I went out and got a guitar.
And then practiced a few hours a day for a half century.

They don't play 'em like this anymore : - (

Few people know that jethro was a real artist on mandolin.he could play it all and well.

Chet & Jethro were brothers-in-law.

Wow, what a treasure.

Chet's sister, Ruth Riggs lived next door to my uncle's farm in Blanchester, Ohio and I seem to recall Ruth saying that Jethro is somehow related to the Atkins family, but I forget how. By marriage, I assume. Chet was down-to-Earth real people and yes, the greatest guitarist who ever lived! RIP, Chester.
