Cyclists who want to take the train towards the South or stop at Hildenborough from London have to hump their bikes over the bridge, which is dangerous for them and other people on the bridge. Furthermore, people carrying luggage have to hump it over here too. So if you are a woman or frail person, it is very tricky. Just when is Hildenborough to be part on the 21st century? I hear lots of people complaining about this. Surely it puts people off living here if they can't get their luggage over or take their bikes over the bridge? Otherwise the station looks lovely, and a nice waiting room. It is just the bridge that discrimates between cyclists, without folded bikes, women, frail people and people who have to carry luggage. They keep changing the colours of the trains and station but doing nothing about this bridge. Where is the Cycling Touring Club when you want them?

  • They Irish Rail / Irnrod Eireann Bought these New Trains and Slyly did not say anything about Bike Facilities. The first Bikers knew was when they tried to go down the Country and discovered they did not allow Bikes anymore and this from a Company that is Subvented by the Irish Taxpayer. They said there is no call for it anymore. Massive Outcry leading to Provision of 2 -3 Spaces on Inter City Trains. In the North of Ireland they have Spaces of 10 on their Trains.

  • Well, that was a load of rubbish. Samething happened over here. Of course there is overcrowding but it is also to do with greed.

  • We used to have guards vans on trains here but now they have those stupid new trains. Some don't even have any rails or a strap for the bike on them so they move around. On the train doors, it is a job to find a door with a 'cycle' sign, so you end up going to the doors where the disabled sign is. I knew that they 'tried to keep it quiet' that it was rubbish for cyclists, they didn't want the complaints. More seats = more passengers more money.

  • We have those Bridges as well. But now they have only a few Trains with Guards Vans so unless you have a Folding Bike you will have a hard time if you want to Travel by Train. They got New Trains from Korea with no Facilities for Bikes, after Massive Complaints they allowed two or Three Bikes in a Former Food Compartment on the Inter City Trains in Ireland. They have a few Old Trains with Guards Vans if you are Lucky to get one .We are worse than Britain for Facilities Travlling by Bike.
