    thank you beautiful dance

  • @racineetienne dear sufi dancer! i personally only read a description in the book "Hush! Don't say anything to God" by Rumi, translated by Shahram Shiva. otherwise you need to look for dervish or sufi communities in your area (google might help). as far as i know, there are quite some communities in north america.

  • why does she lift one hand up n the other pointing towards the ground??n while swirling does it sound like connecting to the cosmic energy..beautiful!

  • @H1703 it's the traditional way of bridging heaven and earth, that is, receiving Light with the right hand and pouring that Light into the earth.

  • Do they always turn in the same direction?? Does it have any meaning if you turn right or left???

  • When they turn left, it empties oneself out to be filled with the spirit of the Divine. When they turn right, the qualities present within grow stronger.

  • @racineetienne Rumi had said that his practices were instituted for the temperament of the people of Asiatic Turkey, not for Europe and America. In accordance with Sufi practice, exercises are devised for specific time and people.---Idries Shah

Now is there an exception to the rule? I don't know.

People get the leaders that they deserve.

  • @14abyan This is the honorable mystic path within Islam.

Turkish muslims build big mosques to honor Mevlana, In arab his name was Jallahudin Rumi.

He promoted this kind of dancing. The whirling derwishes of Konya are world famous.

  • Beautiful, my sister. I am across the globe, but I feel a strong kinship with the intention in your dance. I really admire the power of your concentration and the sincerity in your heart mining. Don't ever be discouraged, and continue in your work as long as you have breath It is so needed in our world.

    much love, Gloria

  • Mesmerizing - if you look at it and just let your eyes go, all you see is movement going one way and then another - a trance. Beautiful.
