"No Country For Old Men," a gory meditation on moral decline, and "There Will Be Blood," a gritty drama about a pioneering California oilman, led the nominations for the 80th annual Academy Awards.

"Atonement," a British period romance revolving around unrequited passion and devastating lies, picked up seven nominations, as did the legal thriller "Michael Clayton."

All four films were nominated for best picture, along with the quirky teen pregnancy comedy "Juno." The Academy Awards will be handed out in Hollywood on Feb. 24.

  • Ruby Dee shoulda been booted out of Supporting Actress and Helena Bonham Carter shoulda gotten in. Dee was good in her five minutes, but Carter in the whole film had the much harder role of making a VERY evil woman sympathetic and likable.

  • Heath ledger would be nominated to the next year 2009, but it was about the best performance in 2008.

that was from the last year

The Academy Awards aren't about that. They're for good films that have characters deeply woven into a intricate and beautiful story. It's not about the fucking money or most watched. You obviously have no taste in films and are a good for nothing piece of shit
