Precious Baby Quilts began at Bayside Church in 1996 with the idea of providing hospitals with quilts and pouches for babies who are stillborn or miscarried. These are personally delivered or posted free of charge throughout Victoria.

Our purpose is to help hospital staff care for mothers and families who are suffering grief at this sad time and to let families know that there are those in the community who share in their sorrow. Each quilt is accompanied by a small tag with Bayside Church contact details. This then gives parents the option of talking to or praying with someone and considering the spiritual dimension of their loss.

In 1998 the baby pouch, liner and gown were introduced to provide for tiny babies less than 20 weeks gestation. A small group of sewers, embroiderers and other helpers at Bayside Church currently provide pouches and quilts to over 40 hospitals in Victoria as well as to individual women and families who have experienced the loss of a baby at some time.

Precious Baby Quilts is a tangible way of expressing God's love to those who are grieving, and encouraging healing in those who still carry the burden of grief for a precious baby.

There are many ways you can support this special ministry including sewing, prayer, assistance with resources and financial support.
