Sh-h-h-h-h-h (1955) - Another of my favorite Walter Lantz cartoons, this one directed by Tex Avery. This was Tex's last theatrical cartoon. The soundtrack used is from "The Okeh Laughing Record" from 1923 - a hilarious yet disturbing recording. (If you'd like a copy of the "Laughing Record", you can download an MP3 copy of the original 78rpm recording for free here: http://www.archive.org/download/Okeh/Okeh-OkehLaughingRecord.mp3 )
A mild-mannered man whose nerves are shot from incessant noise is sent to an exclusive, silent retreat with hilarious results.
Poor fellow.

There's something sinister about the ending, almost like a Twilight Zone episode. The opening title is very relaxing peaceful and quiet, and the close ending leaves us with careless laughter. That's a Twilight Zone episode in a nutshell.
RIP Mr. Twittle

I love this video. But I have always wondered since I was a kid why if it was a hotel that "prides itself with the quietness they maintain" there (1:43) would allow the good Dr. Jittery and his lady friend to play musical instruments and make as much noise as they do.
