not Madonna, Eugene Hutz (Gogol Bordello, Lela Pala Tute)

First and foremost, I forbid you to comment on the level of my singing, my Rose, and the "hand-dancing" (the space in the car was tight, the music wild, and the need to dance excruciating). I am giving you this video not to serve as a target for laughter (which I admittedly am, but I can't cut myself out and it would be a pity throw the video out otherwise). I am giving it to you because you all love Eugene and to me, Eugene's Lela Pala Tute sung here, spontaneously and under the effect of the good old Becherovka is better than any other version I have heard. Also, I have just been told that Mrs. Madonna is singing this song with Eugene this coming Saturday at the Live Earth in London. Now, I have accepted that this lady's directorial debut (Filth and Wisdom) will most likely overshadow mine (The Pied Piper of Hutzovina, out this Sept). Although gutted, I am also learning to accept that Gogol's show in Prague is being cancelled because of this lady's demands. But to think that she also wants Eugene to sing Pala Tute to HER - that's a bit too much of a territory invasion :)! That was a sadder part, if I remember correctly. Someone he idolised (I forget who, now) said that he did not like Eugene's work - said it was not good to mix the old and the new. Very sad for Eugene and anyone who likes Eugene as well.

I love Pied Piper and being able to hear and see the musical genius that is Eugene. And of course when I listened to Trans-Continental Hussle for the first time it totally reminded me of Pied Piper. I always cry when I hear Sun is on my Side. It reminds me of the song he sings with his grandma at the apartment.
