Oh I see. I figured they used cgi because it looked so animated but you could also tell it looked very much like a puppet in parts of the film and those were just 2 of the many flaws in the film.

CGI stands for Computer Generated Image and was not used in Alien 3. The alien was not a 3D model but actually a puppet. The filmmakers used a Motion Control camera system to composite the practical set with the puppet. . . . but yeah, it looked pretty bad compared to what was done before.

I think the acting in this movie was good but the plot was really tired, they didn't bring anything new to the table and they over used the cgi for the alien, the end result was both unnecessary and dissapointing in my opinion.

I still enjoy this movie, perhaps a bit more than Aliens. It's style of defenselessness, isolation, etc, is what made Alien great, and this does that same. It's story was interesting, and definitely should have been the last to make it a trilogy. Some effects would've been better, but overall, it was a good/great film.

I think Alien 3 definately deserves its place in the alien saga, the alien looks amazing!
