A short timelapse I did to test out the feature on the Canon 550D. Used the EOS Utility on my Mac and controlled it from there.

  • how exactly did you do that?

  • @trwerojo pretty easily actually.

First install Canon EOS Utility (comes with your camera). Once it was installed, plug your camera via USB into the comp and open it up. Go into "camera settings/remote shooting" (in the menu) and you can adjust settings there (frame rate, how photos etc.) I then used iStopmotion to put the photos into a sequence (25 frames a second), exported a .mov file, then used FCP to do some touch ups, colour correct etc. Hope that helps! If not, send me an email. :)

  • @gobacktorussia In almost all cameras is a setting to change the image quality, set it to 729p or 1080p those are the standard HD for video.

  • @gobacktorussia after effects my friend

  • in theory could timelapse not be done at crazy resolutions if the software used to stick it together allowed so? is there software that can handle 18mp vids?? maybe thats a bit excessive...

  • oh and the battery worn out in like how much time ?

or the mac could charge it while it is connected through usb ?

  • @mattsmolen I've done this and it works great. The only problem I have is that it takes up lots of memory on my cameras memory card. Is there a way that you can save the recording to the computer and not to the cameras memory card? Thanks.

  • thanks!

  • @mattsmolen thanks! i'll try this one now.
