PIC32 Multimedia Expansion Board Review

Review of the Multimedia Expansion Board for the PIC32 Start Kits from Microchip.
In this review I'm going to show the board and it's periphirals, and then I will show a couple of demostration applications.

The most important component on this board is the SSD1926 graphics controller from Solomon Systech.

@mehilainen Why do think that is? Of course wouldn't we be able to control the display without it, but they could have added a display with built in controller too.

@mindthomas This chip includes hardware JPEG codec, fast SD memory card interface and DMA for fast data transfer from the mem. card to the codec.

I think it is the only one non-SoC type graphics controller chip available with these features.

Other components are generic. There's nothing special about PIC32. You can use ARM, AVR32 or any other processor from many other manufacturers. They all have more or less same features.

Microchip's Graphic Library is really powerful but configuring your HW and SW for it could be painful
