Save your internet today! Sign on to the "Internet Freedom Preservation Act of 2008" HR 5353 at savetheinternet-dot-com. AT&T, Comcast and Verizon want you to PAY for every upload! YouTube would become a watch-only experience! Act now or lose it.

  • Was jus talkin to friend and wife about this today. I'm a wacky optimist. I think there is a place for the "free nations" of the world to retain their sovereignty and unique culture without being sucked into a corporate ruling elite headquarters for all nations. I see attempts to subvert this amazing connecting power of the internet (with truth allowed to flow free) as simply ignorant and childish. Whether FCC or Corporations, "LET THE PEOPLE HAVE FREEDOM ON THE GRID!"

  • Dood. I'm starting to actually see your side of things. Especially with bama putting Tzars in charge of things... very interesting times, indeed. Thanks for your comment.

  • You say if the phone/cable companies get a monopoly on the Internet, that YouTube will be a watch only experience? That may be true; but they still have the 1st Amendment to worry about.

If this bill gets passed, YouTube could be lost altogether, because the FCC doesn't have to worry about the 1st Amendment.

  • the FCC doesn't have to worry about the 1st Amendment ? you two (with anonymous anoonnnnnnnone) sound like AT&T astroturfers to me... not that you are... possibly... just sayin... I mean. Why would you rather trust AT&T and Comcast? That's what I want to know!

  • Yes, I actually do. If they violate any laws, they have the full force of the government to worry about, if the FCC slips up, it doesn't matter, because they're pretty much part of the government anyway. The only people that will come after them are.... I can't think of any.

  • You're right about worrying about the FCC... but why aren't you at all worried about the brute force of "Ma Bell" aka ATT aka Return of the Beast? Comcast and Verizon run in the same pack of wolves also. Sure they're good old fashioned, red-blooded American corporations, but their lobbiests and underhanded payoffs to our elected officials are gettin to be a little bit outta control, imho.

  • Its already starting, I live in the US and in Mexico. When I am in Mexico sometimes I come across US internet site that says I can not access the page or media from my region. Its mostly news sites. This sucks!

  • @atomsound It is government red tape that allows these large corporations to monopolize an industry in the first place since We the People cannot start our own similar business to compete with them for lower cost and/or higher quality products. You are referring to Coporatism and that is not a fault of free market capitalism, that is a fault of cronie capitalism (government interfering with the economy) that causes businesses to because too big to fail. "Competition is a sin." - John Rockefeller

  • Nope. savetheinternet - dot - com (please educate yourself, anonnn...
