cool... you could have used fishing sinkers to hold down the keys leaving you free to move around the room and experience the piece from everywhere. perhaps that's cheating... it'd have been nice to record it from various places though. thanks for sharing.

Whoops...bum note at 1:52. Due to sitting on the floor!!
Good for you though, seriously.
Calls for a lot of stamina holding a chord so long, eh?
i once performed Riley's 'In C'....repeated octave C's for 45 minutes. The top string snapped without any power from my hands just through its own sheer exhaustion!

Wow this is really cool, in a very bizarre strange way!

this is really good stuff. even your talking over the music - it's all good. do another one and let us all know when.
This is really awesome! I must find some more of La Monte Young's music. Are you going to be doing any performances like this in the future? I mean, filmed and all?

Well, I was hoping actually to do a twenty-four hour performance of this and write down my observations of various changing perceptions over time, (we did that here but, unfortunatly, most of our notes were thrown away by the cleaners next morning!) but I'm having trouble finding somewhere that'll be open to me for twenty four hours, which is very annoying.

wow that's rad was that how long la monte would play his pieces for?

I don't know how long he'd have played it, to be honest, as performance lengths vary-the only instruction is that the notes are 'to be held for a long time'. Some people have gone over twenty-four hours-but the Number Six seems quite a good number, and Six hours is both long enough to be something worthwhile-but short enough to be achievable, so it seemed a good length of time to play, all in all...

six hours-all in a good cause may I add.
