She's one of my favorite singers. Watch the video of her singing the title song from "Rags". And she was terrific in Les Miz. But my favorite Judy Kuhn performance is in "Chess".

Her voice is captivating.
You can forgive a flub with such beauty - she is, after all, human.

This is freakin' Pocahontas's singing voice! Of course she is a pro!

@jlaz89 for me, Kuhn's version really gets to the heart of Joel's song, while (and I do like the Joel original) Joel's version comes across as a "here i am the piano man writing a classical four square art song"

@Beagle3561, she's only human. People forget things, what a concept. :P

@NotABoyScoutNYC , this is a long song with lots of words and hard to keep them in mind.
if you know judy well enough to talk to her , then tell her , if she would learn to breath properly , her sound would expand and be better supported , she is only breathing from the top 1/3 of her lungs as you can she shoulders move when she takes in a breath , she fixes her breath control , it will give her a much fuller sound and then LOOK OUT WORLD !!! ( but she`s hot ) which makes up for it.

To the contrary I think this stripped down version capitalizes on the lullaby nature of the song and actually enhances the beautiful melody. LOVE this version.

Yeah, a real "pro." Just forgot the lyrics, is all.
Indeed, the lyric forget makes the whole thing somehow, well, even more direct, human, directly to the soul.....Kuhn recovers (with a tiny second of an embarrassed smile), and keeps going, taking us somewhere deep inside the enormous heart, tenderness, and emotion of this song -- for some of us who have lost so many friends and family (I think of my brother who died at 40), there's such enormous resonance here......

from your moderator here -- there's no one harder on Judy thsn Judy -- at least that's always been my impression, apologizing for the flub. The PASSION (Passion a far from easy show to do) company in which she was starring had been off for two weeks, and she hadn't done this show for some eight months.
By the way Kuhn will again be doing her Laura Nyro set at Joe's Pub/NYC on Monday, October 6th, 2008, and also on the 7th as well. Don't miss it if you're in New York City.
