I do not own this. All credit goes to The Fred Rogers Company/WQED.

When I was little me and my mom wrote Mr. Rogers a letter and he wrote back. I read somewhere that he answered every piece of fan mail he got. Also does anyone know the story of why he had a traffic light in his living room?

Well, the idea is that it's just there for no reason. That it's just a gift you didn't know what to do with. On the program, it was said to be a gift from Officer Clemmons.

I thought the show first premiered in 1968--unless the pilot was taped in 1967. Sad how old he looks by the last part. I'm 24 and I used to love this show as a kid.

It was probably filmed in 1967, but the first program premiered on February 19th, 1968.

The sadist part about this is seeing him age threw out ever different intro.

He's supposed to be coming home from work, and putting on his "casual" clothes, like kids would change into their play clothes after school. Idk if kids still do this, but when I was a kid in the 60's you changed out of your "good" school clothes into play clothes. So he's doing the same thing, and teaching the kids to hang up and put away their stuff. I miss him so much!

yeah I agree it's not sad. Don't know what I was saying. My grandma is turning 97 in July and she's still sharp as a tack and looks like she's in her early 80s.

Excellent video, Excellent idea. Good retrospective. It's interesting to see him age over the years. He looked pretty young in 1967, but he was actually 39. Which is pretty old.
