The dry milling process of ethanol production is driven upon the fermentation of starch from corn. Corn grain contains approximately 2/3 starch which is converted to ethanol, carbon dioxide, and corn co-products in the fermentation process. The resulting nutrients in ethanol co-products are concentrated three-fold relative to corn. Three common co-products marketed by ethanol plants are wet distillers grains plus solubles, referred to as WDGS; modified distillers grains plus solubles, referred to as MDGS; and condensed corn distillers solubles, which is referred to as CCDS. http://beef.unl.edu
