"PLUTO Bringer Of Change"
Music © 2008 by ROB ASTOR
From The Release AD ASTRA

Although a track was written for Pluto a few years ago, "PLUTO Bringer Of Change" was inspired by my recent recording of the Gustav Holst "Planets Suite". This is one of several originals I wrote to go with his work. The Planets reflects astrological connotations of the major bodies in our solar system. (Holst lived a few years beyond Pluto's discovery in 1930, however, had no desire to write a piece of music for it. He felt "The Planets" over shadowed his later works, many of which he felt were much better.) In astrology, Pluto brings change. Sometimes its heavy handed and painful, which is why this piece of music feels foreboding. Change can be uneasy and downright scarey.

You can find this track on my AD ASTRA album, which features the entire Gustav Holst Planets Suite. "PLUTO Brigner Of Change" was inspired by the idea to rerecord that body of work in a new way, and by the thought to add my own touch to this very small and incredibly distant body.

  • This is actually kind of creeping me out

  • @CornOnTheCobIIV I'm sorry. That wasn't my intention. I guess we all take away differing feelings when music touches us in some way. :-)

  • I would've imagined pluto as a more upbeat, happy planet. Like the dog.

  • @platyplatypusface LOL Like Holst going for the astrological meanings, I went with the aspect of change and that it isn't always easy. While writing and recording the song, my life was on the brink of drastic, major change. Some has turned out for the betterment of me, however, it was a very hard and very difficult task and I feel all of the dark energy every time I reflect on that part of my life. Thus, the vibes of darkness. Pluto roams in perpetual darkness, too. ;-)

  • @RobAstor The irony being that Pluto technicaly doesn't have an atmosphere, as it is frozen solid.
