Juno Alaska, 2008. Humpback whales bubble netting. The whales form a circle around a school of herring, then at the command of the lead cow whale (sounds), the whale pod blows a bubble net around the fish and forces them to the surface. The lead cow whale comes up from the bottom with her mouth open straight out of the water and scoops up the fish. Then the others join in the feed. Cool.... Video filmed by Bob & Sue Garnett

  • That's seriously the coolest thing I've ever seen. Nice vid!

  • well first of all just so you know you guys were incredibly lucky to see this I worked on a whale watching boat in Juneau this summer and we only saw this a couple of times the whole year. second great video, it is nice that you guys got to hear them via the hydro phone.

  • I think we may have been on the boat with you. We saw either this very thing or your whale watching excursion took you to the same spot and you were able to see what we did. We saw the humpbacks bubblenetting on August 8this summer right beside the boat. Is that the same day as your video? Either way, it was the most fantastic sight I've ever seen!! What an experience!
