How to make non-toxic homemade play dough (play-doh) in the microwave! It's a fast and easy project, ideal for a rainy day that your children are sure to love. It smells good with a hint of vanilla essence and is completely non-toxic and can be made quickly again and again. Cream of tartar optional!

The things you'll need are:
2 cups Flour
1 Cup Salt
1 teaspoon Cream of Tartar
1 Tablespoon Oil
2 Cups Water
Splash of food colouring and flavouring.

01:50 Combine all the ingredients in a bowl and mix together until smooth.

02:30 Place in a microwavable bowl and cover, heat on high for 3 minutes.

03:15 Roll the mixture onto a surface and place in a plastic sealable bag.

After 1 hour, it's ready to play with!

  • Creamof Tartar is basically a creamier form of baking powder. It's not essential to use it but it will make the dough much more pliable and wil help it retain the colour better. If you don't have any in your cupboard, use 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda and leave the dough to 'steam' in a sealed plastic container. By steam, I mean once removed from microwave, knead quickly and get it into a sealed plastic container or ziplock bag and leave for 10 minutes. It should be ready to use after that. Enjoy!
