damn,,after hearing this song i almost felt like i was on that boat during that time period,,i could envision the wives and children as they prayed in church during the memorial..

this song is so good it takes you there,,you feel the terror and emotion of it all,,thats what good song writing is all about...very few songs make this grade..

when i hear this beautiful song as showstopp3rr said it takes you somehwhere else the first time i heard this i was roughly 12 years old and im 22 and it still emotionally moves me and makes me drift away as the wreck of the edmund fitzgerald.... music has died prior to our age, music has died with the age technology, people were just better back then,

This song always reminded me of an old Native Indian chant. Like a story being imparted by the wise old grandfather around a camp fire. I don't know why but its always felt Native Indian to me.
