Roy Harper is a genius that unfrotunately 99.9% of the planet will never get to experience, such is our capitalistic commercial music industry bs... how sad that artists such as Roy are buried under a manureheap of dross.... but great music will NEVER die as long as there are people like you and me to love it! : )

I love this version. For the record, I like Fraser's version too, and I also like the Gabriel/Bush version. Apparently I just love this song. Thankfully the two covers of it that I've heard have been well done. I'd be angry if someone butchered it.
Also, I agree with scousefourteen -- Roy Harper is vastly underappreciated.

@00SoldierofFortune00 thanks, just noticed your reply, after watching the RFH gig here.
Anything would be appreciated. I had heard that John Renbourn joined him on one or two cuts. That or more orchestrations.

No, it's originally on "Flat Baroque And Berserk" from 1970. And I think it's much better there than here.

Nice one! My hero a guiding light to me. The poet no one know about. England has a lot to answer for , as do the so called intelligent publcations like MOJO that pay lip service to genius.

Not disgusted at all mate... Liz does an amazing job on it, as do Kate and Peter. Class artists covering a class piece of music rarely fails!
This to me is one of those works of art, such as Elvis Costello's Shipbuilding, where great artists take the time to pay homage to it with their own (Robert Wyatt, Suede, Tasmin Archer) fantastic versions.

good comment mate------
better to have a few appreciative ones than a mass of idiots ruining genius-

dear poster,
thank you so much for uploading this, possibly he best version ever. certainly Bedford's orchestration is allowed to shine, and gorgeous it is too! Obviously from the 60th birthday bash. This cd is appallingly difficult to buy in Canada, could you please please upload some more?
gratefully yours,

Thanks, I appreciate it. Yea, I have the whole cd, so I will upload the rest if I can find it. Any songs you liked in particular off of it? I think "Just One of Those Days in England" is the 2nd best song on the album.

When and where was this recorded? Was it Roy's 60th birthday bash?
Oh yes, those first 4 chords- Cmaj7 B7 Em D
I sometimes play them over and over again without realising it-truly hypnotic stuff.
Thank you for posting this.

This was from the "Hats Off" CD of Roy Harpers. I think "Another Day" was originally from his "Flashes From The Archives Of Oblivion" from 1974.

Wonderful; I never tire of this beautiful song and I've been listening to it since I first bought Flat Baroque and Berserk when I was a snot-nosed 17 year old back in 1970. Roy was a huge influence on my guitar playing; I owe him a lot including thanks for rekindling fond memories of a particularly hot summer-and a particularly hot woman.
Cheers for this, SOF.

Yea no problem. I was actually trying to play this song on guitar the other day, but I have yet to get it.
