I would just like to say that I am of the sentiments that most have so far expressed regarding Mitch Daniels. I believe he is a man worthy of our support.

@fluff125 I appreciate that, but check his record. He does exactly, I mean exactly, what he says he will do... and it works. He has 5 consecutive balanced budgets in Indiana to prove it, after inheriting a state government swimming in red ink. He's brilliant, extremely hard-working and a true believer in the Great American Experiment. You may trust this man implicitly.

In this cynical and angry time, Daniels is a calm voice of reason and compassion. Reagan and FDR brought new ideas to government to meet the needs of their times. Old time liberalism and even more laissez faire are not what we need now. Daniels is bringing a third way with the vision and leadership that can shake things up and retrieve America from the irrational bitterness seen in these comments. It is a big job. I think he is the man to do it and the time to do it is now.

So very sad, to have to believe the people who largely got us into this mess are the ones to get us out. And to say because he was the Budget director he gets a pass. By that logic only the President is responsible. Nevertheless, in this rats nest of true believers let's hope a pragmatist like Mitch Daniels emerges.

@hitmanhart670 meh... for one, budget directors don't really have that much control over decisions. also, he was in the unfortunate position of being in that spot immediately after 9/11 which guaranteed it hardly mattered what he thought in that environment. Then there is one important question: who's stopping romney? I know it's not perfect but i'll live with it
