Ok, this is tutorial number 2, BASIC (3/10), the door tutorial.

the door will: open and close automatically, you can weld / unweld it, shoot it down and if mapped properly, aliens will bash it in :D

don't mind my language, english isn't my main language so pronunciation is a bit crappy :P

IF you have any questions please ask them ok!

next tutorial will be a how to spawn aliens :D

  • Thank you for all your help, but I do have a slight problem. I've been following the tutorial and the basic one before but now it seems whenever I load up the door version of the simple map the lights do not work, however they are exactly the same as the ones in the last map. Please respond, great tutorials :)

    Yellow:

    ***leaked*** (thats it)

    But the map runs also, but since it's pitch black I have no idea if the entities work, though they most likely do.

  • @flf4sgam3r you big cube isn't correct. Try deleting it, then make a big cube (with toolsnolight texture). Then hollow it out, and make it a func_brush with the name: structure_seal

  • Hey how i can run the map i cant when i click on it its appear exe but doesnt lad the game, tell me why?

  • can any 1 tell me how to trigger a .cfg file with the sdk editor?

    im trin to make it go from therd person to first person view wene u walk into a sertin aira and switch back after leaving that aira.

    I can make the cfg file but I dont know how to trigger it with a sdk trigger function.

    pls help thx

  • @Ghostreconunit666 set up a prop_dynamic and name it and put a trigger_panel_hack_area and set the panel prop name to your panel's name and that it. for the output set it to (onbuttonhackcompleted,then trigger the panel skin from red to green by selecting skin and override parameters type 1, and then link it to your door by setting the output to onbuttonhackcompleted,set it to auto open or close.) some words that i provide might be type wrongly and hope it help :)

  • @newe6000 you need to set up an ai navigation for your map by putting some info_nodes so that those aliens can bash the door when you are in a room with a door or something like that. hope that help :)
