@anttisairanen It's Harold Bauer - an English concert pianist who studied in Paris with Paderewski at the end of the 19th century and was later on of the the main piano teachers at the Manhattan School of Music in NYC.

First time I hear this sonata that sounds German. It's because he doesn't do anything special. He just plays it.

he had recorded Brahms' Violin Concerto in D. I believe he won some competition playing that concerto. In all honesty I listened to Alma Gluck, his wife, who was a "great diva" around 1915. Youtube has her and Caruso singing the Traviata brindisi, and his rich voice is followed by what sounds to my ear as a shrill thin voice - Alma's voice.
