True, although I think that it was mainly used for effect since it was written in '68 when the war in Vietnam was going on. It doesn't make a lot of sense for someone who is being oppressed in America to wish oppression on another.

you all are a bunch of idiots. First off, Giovanni is one of the world's most respected poets. Second off, apparently you didnt read why she drove Cho out of his class. Cho, in class, tried to take pictures up girl's skirts, and other sexually harrassing things. If she didnt kick him out, then she would be making the mistake. And to yeppyea, your the biggest idiot of them all. She did not refer to those stereotypes at all. When she said "hokie" she was referring to the school mascot.

WTF Giovanni addresses in her poem, blacks as niggers, whites as honkies and asians as slant eye bastards. What a tasteless sack of shit you are, and that speech is not about your theatrical performance but to extend heartfelt condolences to the family of the victims. You rasisng your arms in the air as if to act like you took the spotlight makes me sick in the stomach. How can you embrace people of different race when they are merely honkies, slant eye bastards and niggers to you?

This Hokie performed a Hokey Jokey. I would have preferred to see her do the Hokey Pokey. This is just one very bad poet, who was one of the last in a series of people to reject Cho, by kicking him out of her class, responding to another bad poet's murderous rampage.
