Started of as a random bits and pieces vid but turned into this.....
Flying down Glastonbury high st, I bumped into this lot.........!

Music WAS by Dr John the night Tripper, Gris gris gumbo ya ya.
But this was nobbled by the owners of the copyright and removed by youtube, so I've had to replace it with a copyright free track from youtube's crap audio swap library!
hence the references to Dr John throughout the comments!

  • Why did youtube remove this cool music?

  • Copyright infringement claim by the record company!

  • I'm a native New Orleanian and living back in the city. It's interesting how similar the vibe in this video is to the vibe I get walking down Dauphine street late at night in the French Quarter or Marigny. I think it would be great to see a similar video with the song "I Walk on Guilded Splinters" by Dr. John...I consider it "part 2" to this song, really...2 different sides of the same Bayou VooDoo spell...

  • Thanks for your comment.

I love 'Walk on gilded splinters' but its such special, timeless music that doing justice to it would be hard!

    Still a great idea though!

The copyright wars have made me jumpy!

I've seen friends channels being deleted by youtube for having copyright music!

I love the music and want to share it! simple as that!

    Thanks for firing me up!

All the best to yourself and to New Orleans, the very best!

  • If you haven't already, go read 'Under a HooDoo Moon' - Mac Rebbenack's autobiography - fascinating!

Love the vid, by the way!

  • Thanks for your comment and info, will do!

  • Hi Tom. YouTube took away my HQ settings too..Seems like when a video has high viewcounts and has been on channel for more than two years, they think it ain't worth the bother of keeping them looking good like when they were first uploaded :(

No wonder people are considering uploading to other video-sharing sites; leave them here and watch them deteriorate.

This video, however doesn't look too bad.

    Mike.

  • thanks 4 the video :) I spent just 6months there but that place is magic... I've felt a lot of things watching it.

    Lovely music

  • I totally agree with you, that was on my short list of all time favorite videos. jahedg

  • To bad the fat cigar chomping know nothing corporate jackasses dont understand these videos increase there sales by giving the public a taste of something they would otherwise never been hip to.Sad-Thanks for the post narcoleptus is was one of the best while it lasted-

  • Ik zeg niet dat het waar is...maar geef toe, het is een mooi gerucht. John's reactie in het interview was: "I was just being social, y'know".

Cheers

  • It's something I read in a Dutch magazine, circa 1989. I remember it because it struck me as something atypical of the '60s and '70s.

  • I have tons of stuff on zappa but never read anywhere about he and dr.John doing a recording sesion.
