Artist: Scott Huckabay.
Album: Peace Dance.
Theme: Into the Spirit..

"It's the soul expression of music I play that feeds my constant state of bliss. In the midst of it all, my hope is that I can help invoke creativity & inspiration in others throughout this beautiful planet!" Scott Huckabay

Guitarist virtuoso Scott Huckabay draws from his own Native American Apache and Chirachua roots exuding primal earth energy with his music. With incense burning between strings, wearing bells on his right ankle, the passionate ritual begins. The stage echoes, rolling like thunder under his bare feet, pounding a mesmerizing heartbeat. Dancing in a circle, shaking his dolphin guitar like a shaman shaking his magic medicine rattle, he lifts the guitar to his lips and howls the ancient cries from the deepest seas, leading us on a mesmerizing journey.
Huckabay coaxes, drums, strums, slaps, rattles, improvises, bends and infuses, fractals, harmonics and sounds not of this dimension. He has developed over 200 open guitar tunings and his intricate licks incorporate elements of trance, rock, folk, blues and fusion. He peppers a rhythmic groove with the warping and bending of notes, complete with an array of harmonic surprises. A rich and multi-textured sound, including percussive interludes creates the illusion of three or four musicians performing.

Scott Huckabay has recorded and produced seven musical recordings including the acclaimed CD entitled "Peace Dance". He has written poetry for a book, "Angels of the Sea," (Hay House) and has been featured in the film "Quest for the Dolphin Spirit". His music was recently heard on several MTV's Real World episodes and he regularly receives airplay on NPR's Echoes. He also creates a wide variety of multimedia projects including the recent release of his CD "Alchemy," which incorporates an interactive CD-ROM, "The Sonic Alchemists Journey". Scott is currently recording on the Soundings of the Planet label, whose motto is Peace Through Music. www.peacethroughmusic.com

Huckabay has performed with such artists as Chicago, Steve Morse, Joe Satriani, Crosby, Stills & Nash, Bonnie Raitt, Albert Lee, Buffy Saint-Marie, Shadowfax, Jackson Browne, John Trudell, Toni Childs, Sarah MacLachlan, Pierre Bensusan, Ram Das, Hapa, Bob Weir, Randy Hanson, and performed at various festivals, theaters, stadiums, Universities and coffee houses across the U.S.

In 1987, Huckabay was involved in a near-fatal motorcycle accident. Doctors told him that he would lose all feeling in his right hand and left leg and that he would not walk or use his right hand again. During his recovery he began to get acquainted with the acoustic guitar, and a miraculous healing process began. Music of divine inspiration began to flow from deep within his soul. Scott attributes his incredible healing to this new music and to a year spent swimming with wild dolphins and whales in Hawaii. The genius and creative spirit of Jimi Hendrix also inspires him.

It is with this music that Scott hopes to help heal the wounds of the earth and all of its creatures, and to transform pain and sorrow into peace, beauty, joy and love. Scott is also a devote environmentalist, vegetarian & practices yoga on a daily basis. *

Scott Huckabay is as unique and scintillating of a talent on acoustic guitar that can be found today in any musical genre. He is one of growing number of musicians that are tuning their instruments to the sacred sounds of the Solfeggio frequencies, also known as "The Perfect Circle of Sound."

The Solfeggio frequencies were the original musical scale notes from ancient times before they were altered to the modern dissonant scale.

By some sort of Divine coincidence, Scott Huckabay met Dr. Leonard Horowitz, who convinced him to create music in the sacred Solfeggio tuning. He dutifully produced a series of six recordings that specifically incorporate "The Perfect Circle of Sound" of the original Solfeggio frequencies.

"When you hear Scott Huckabay play, he doesn't play like any (other) musician or any (other) guitarist," explains Dr. Horowitz. "I consider him to be the universal guitarist for the spiritual renaissance."

Indeed, Scott Huckabay's music is impossible to categorize as it weaves elements of jazz, rock 'n' roll, Indian, new age, folk, pop and that Hendrix guy, altogether in a Divine melting pot of wonderment and delight.

So perhaps you could add "six-stringed shaman" to Scott Huckabay's list of titles too. Somehow, I don't think he would mind that at all.

  • P>S he has no idea how to read music

  • I have know Scott for 14 years, if you can figure his lyrics out let me know......................

  • I can't find awakening spirit :(

  • Scott is very free with his playing & arrangement. Not being a guitar player (keyboards) I may be totally off but I would bet there's a good chance it's a different tuning. He uses a bow in the break too. Very ambitious to even try it! I wish you good luck!

  • Does anyone know how to play this or know a site that I can go to to learn how to play this? I've figured out one of the harmonics part which is just a scale but it's a little weird because it's all harmonics and one you have to make sure you hit it just right or you won't get it right... that part goes like:

    D...7................12............

    A................7...........7.......

    E.........9........................9

But does anyone know the rest of the song, please I want to learn, thanks!

  • @Danni293

It's real simple, essentially it's all just sharpened up a bit! If you have a chromatic guitar tuner you can do this by shifting "A" = 440Hz up to "A" = 444Hz.

Standard" tuning: E (82Hz), A (110Hz), D (147Hz), G (196Hz), B (247Hz), E (330Hz). This produces concert pitch, where "A" on the 1st string at the 5th fret is 440Hz. This also give us "C" at the 8th fret which reads 523.25Hz on a scope. Retune so "C" at the 8th fret is 528Hz. Tune the other strings to this 1st string. Easy!

  • Can't you just give me the notes to tune the open strings to? I don't call standard tuning (EBGDAE) by it's frequency I call it by the notes in the open strings starting from the first string up (if you didn't know guitar tunings were named by, if you did well then just give me the notes.)

  • Danni ~ It is the 528 frequency! check it out here...
