Follow along with my video to learn how to rebuild your RC car/truck's nitro engine!

Leave any questions in the comments and I'll answer them!

And yes, I know I'm putting the old piston/sleeve back in! You need a new sleeve/piston, wristpin, and (after about 2 rebuilds) a new conrod! I only put the old stuff back in because it is a junker engine that I never plan to do anything with!

40 thousand views! Thanks, guys! I'll get more videos up based on viewer requests about basic RC aspects. Keep in mind, I cannot do many vehicle specific tutorials, but more along the lines of general information that everyone needs to know about RC. Send me some messages, and I'll try to get some more up!

  • with this method, will it fix the compression problem?

  • @vik2r84 yes, compression problems are caused by the piston not fitting the sleeve properly. When you replace the piston and sleeve, that fit is restored, as is compression.

  • I think someone asked this but i never saw an answer....what is the list of parts to replace on a rebuild? i just got given this engine but its old, would like to rebuild properly but don't know what to replace...thanks!

  • Well, first thing is the piston and sleeve. Wheever those are replaced, most people will replace the conrod as well. The wrist pin and the clips that hold it in MUST be swapped out every time the engine is rebuilt.

  • Thanks for all the comments on this video, you guys. If anyone needs me to post another video on how to preform another basic aspect of RC, let me know. The next video will for sure be better than this one (quality, voice instructions instead of text, etc.)

the engine sat for 4-5 years w/ gas in the cylinder....(my dad did this...)

and the sleeva, piston, AND crank are completely STUCK

    help!

  • nice no rambling great vid

  • Shame you don't show how to replace the ball bearings

  • Very usefull, thanks, but he quality is soooo poor!

    Barely can see anything.

I advise to get a better camera, you even would get more views

  • @pilotduty ou prob have an air leak in your pressure line from the exaust to fuel tank or our fuel tank is bad also your compression in your engine could be GONE and may need a rebuild

  • that looks like the old stock engine of an MG 16!
