"Digital Killed The Analog Star"

HD footage of an analog TV during an actual US switch to digital broadcasting. June 12, 2009 at 12:30pm. This switch was from Atlanta's 11Alive newscast.

Unfortunately, we didn't get to see the actual pushing of the button due to the couple of seconds of transmission delay. But a big era in TV history is over.

  • nice that you got that.

question how did it stop without the button being pressed???

  • I think that the actual button pushing was all going to be for "show," and that the hostess just mishandled it (while the retired guy was just waiting for her to cue him). They both seemed a little lost. But the actual termination, must have been happening from somewhere else. Just my guess.

  • I already had digital cable, so I dont even know what I was doing when the button was pushed. Oh well. the video reminded me of some sort of apocalyptic movie where suddenly, the transmission stops and humanity ends (ahhh! zombies!!)

  • dtv is complete s*** in my oppinion. they need analog back on the air. i dont get a good digital signal where i live, and id rather have my screen get a little snowy than have no picture at all.

  • @mknomad5 WW3 will begin most likely within 3-7 years.

  • atlanta :)

  • "There's 3 buttons, Local, Off, and On" "I hope it's the off"

    what a d!ck

  • You sheeple don't get it at all. This was the beginning of WWIII.

  • @DaleATL2 Live tv is delayed by 5 seconds so when the tv went blank thats when she pressed it.

  • @wilkes85

    why is it sad

  • @wilkes85 No its not a big waste of money. They needed to take down analog cause there was to much "Analog waves" or what ever you want to call it in the air, so they turned analog off to be able to have less interfering, and be able to have more channels on TV's.

  • What analog TV did you get this from?

  • Weird report.
