K-State's Civil Infrastructure Systems Laboratory is one of few in the world to house a machine that simulates traffic on a patch of actual roadway. Donald Powers, a former soldier who got the job running the laboratory as a freshman, explains how the machine works and why it's so valuable to K-State.
