high tides at ostend march 1st 2008.
top of the tide now and wow , look at the size of those waves.you can see the cliff edge being washed away.unless the sea wall is re-inforced soon, then these houses will disapear into the sea over the next 2 years.could you live there facing that danger?

Was it actually a tidal surge (i.e level of the sea HIGHER than the expected astronomical high tide due to a large pressure gradient crossing the North Sea) or a regular occurrence of a high tode with a northerly swell? I am from Sunderland and I have yet to experience a proper storm surge there. My age: 45 :-)

It was a tidel surge good and proper, I live 40 yds from the sea wall, and was woken by the bed shaking every time the waves came in. Only happened once in 5 years.
