We had our anniversary week off at the end of May and decided to do a marathon on the boats. We spent 7 days, 8 to 12 hours each day only working on the boats. I guess we were fussy because we did a lot of fill and sand. Now we're into the fiberglassing stage. The deck has a layer of glass and 2 coats of epoxy. The hulls now have a full layer and 2 smaller reinforcement layers and 2 coats of epoxy. Work work work work work.

  • Thanks for watching. The hull is 2 1/2 layers of 6 oz. glass. A third strip is run along the keel about 4 feet from the stern and bow. The deck is, I think, 3 1/2 oz. S-glass. It might be 4 oz., but I remember them talking me into lighter glass for the deck. Yes, we sanded after the second coat. Heavily--60 grit. Then another coat, or 2 if needed. Those get finer sanding--through 220 or 320 wet. Then the final varnishing with UV protection. More later, I have to go out to the shop.

  • Excellent job guys! Such clean construction and shop. My shop is like a dust bowl by comparison.

Great way of holding the stem bands in place.

    Nice inlays.
