actually this crash was because their Cox wasnt able to get a green card so Princeton lent them a girl cox who spoke Chinese. She made a bad call coming out of an already tricky turn and one thing led to another

@Ethelovely I'd rather damage a broken boat than get speared in the head by the bow of another eight moving with a force of roughly 3,800 kilogram meters a second, my maths may be off by a little but it should be around there. Even with the bow ball that will be fatal if hits your head.

@Ethelovely yeah, weeks bridge (where they sunk) is tight and blind for the cox especially when youre racing upstream. they were told to stay in the boat, because in a river a boats a lot more visible than a swimmer

it's really not a bright idea to stay in the boat after it swamps! it's just going to damage the shell more and make it sink faster! They should've gotten out as soon as it happened. rowing to shore is just as dangerous.

Ever rowed at the charles? It was probably the safest place to be at the time since other boats were flying through the bridge
