This 180cc side-valve 4 stroke lawn mower engine I rebuild with help of a friend with a professional lathe. We remade the camshaft now with 2 opposite cams per valve in a 90 degree angle between in- and outlet cams, so we could leave the camshaft axel and toothwheels in place. Pre-pressure from the inletvalve spring was raised to push against incoming steampressure, but the valve lifts only fractions of millimeters. Where as the outletvalve spring is light and the valve opens maximal as possible.
For demonstration purposes I build a cilinderhead of 23mm oak with a 8mm glass window in it to work with compressed air. Now you can actually look into the head when it's running. A short film of this will follow shortly.
At the moment I'm rebuilding it for higher pressure to drive a small 12vdc generator.
