The marine community along New York's lower Hudson River sprang into action recently to rescue all 155 passengers of US Airways Flight 1549 from 35-degree waters. Coast Guard Sector New York responded with a fleet of small rescue boats and the Coast Guard cutters Ridley and Katherine Walker also assisted. Three Coast Guard helicopters from Air Station Atlantic City (N.J.) and one from Air Station Cape Cod (Mass.) worked closely with New York City Police air assets to provide aerial support.
