Fancy Rat Drinking with Manners

This is so cute. My pet rat Diamond demonstrates how to be a "proper" fancy rat and drink politely. (I guess her name fits her!)

There is nothing in the bowl except pure water. I did not train her to do this--she just started doing it on her own. She is such a character! :)

@Tpal91 Yah they had bottles in the cages. But Diamond had some allergy that would cause a rash on her hands. Never could figure out what the allergy was to (the usual suspects were all ruled out). I discovered letting her have water to play with kept the rash away. So during play time I usually had some sort of water out. Even if it was just a plate with a lil water, she'd go stand in it to get all her paws wet. :D

Our Olivia drinks like that. she also use's the water bottle as a shower wetting her hands and cleaning her face with her wet hands

soo cute! I have six very different ratties, my three younger boys are very petite unlike their big, butchy brothers.... and all three of my little boys drink the 'proper' way!!! haha

@DirtieLaundry Awesome! When I got Sapphire later she tried to mimic this behavior of Daimond's (she copied the quirks from ALL the other ratties!). She drank from her hands one time, but enjoyed more flicking the water off her hands afterwards. The rest of her life she'd shake her hands while drinking, even when they were completely dry, even when drinking from a bottle! :D

Using a cap like a cup! That's something I'd looooove to see! :D

sorry to say but I have seen many of my rats do that. I even had one he used a soda bottle cap to drink from, like a cup.

My rat would lap up the water sometimes, he would use one hand at other times. He'd use it to groom too and splash it all over his face! It was so cute!
