  • For a so called "poor" colour system 2 strip Technicolor gave splendid results when shooting was carefully controlled as with staged musical numbers.

    Great quality posting.

  • I wish they sold software to make new footage look like two-strip Technicolor.

  • @swallin19 Yes, I love early technicolor. It was so beautiful when used skillfully. I just wish we didn't have to suffer through Wheeler and Whoolsey to see it!

  • "Hello, I Must Be Going" (aka "Hooray for Capt. Spaulding") is in fact an echo of "Goodbye." Kalmar & Ruby wrote "Goodbye" for "The Ramblers" (opened 9/26), & wrote "Spaulding" for "Animal Crackers" (opened 10/28.) "The Ramblers," score intact, was filmed as "The Cuckoos," w/ W & W in Clark & McCulloughs original roles, & released 5 months before the "Animal Crackers" movie). W & Ws foil here is Jobyna Howland, tho Margaret Dumont did appear w/ them in "Kentucky Kernels" and "High Flyers."

  • I'm sure i'm not the only one seeing a very LOUD echo of "Hello, I Must Be Going" in reverse...with what looks like a Maggie Dumont character looking on.

And a touch of the Gilbert and Sullivan mood, too.

    The color does look great.
