In this episode I am joined by a good friend and pianist Ross Inglis. The piece is Vocalise by Sergei Rachmaninov. It is originally for voice and piano and it is a song without words.

  • hey luke, loving the rachmaninov, when are you going to upload more videos? i wanna see something like kodaly duo sonata or cassado requiebros! =]

  • @TheTradge Great suggestions. Hopefully we can do another episode soon.

  • You are fantastic my friend. I'm a pianist and I've played this piece with a violinist. I much prefer cello for Rachmaninov's Vocalise.

  • Thanks.

  • You also played Faure's 'Elegie' and the 'Allegro Appassionato' by Saint-Saens. I performed those for my last exam, but now that i've sort of finished with them, i want to experiment with different pieces. I'm into the technical work of the Allegro App. but also the passionate fervour of the elegie. What other pieces would you recommend?

  • Maybe another one of the pieces we've done.

  • Bravo Rachmaninoff ! Vocalise sounds even better in cello than in original form.

  • this song is so sad, and yet so beautiful. it makes you feel the pain in a persons heart when they miss someone they cant see anymore, or cant touch anymore.

  • vibrato's a bit too short and small and quick

  • I think it is played too fast, where ist the melancholy, the sadness of it?

  • what a fantastic pianist !

  • you link it too much at the beggining. It becomes annoying sometimes, it's not an articulate discourse.
