Seriously. Anybody who would belittle this is full of it. I can understand how somebody might not light Claire de Lune or his serial work but even that has wonderful fruits if it is played with an understanding of its melodic content though your ear must be able to comprehend abstract harmony and dissonance. I think Gould understood Shonbergs piano pieces better than anyone else that I've heard.

@ewrobbins The worst thing about it is that they're doing it even on videos of Schoenberg's highly accessible late-Romantic music, which makes me suspect that they're not even listening.

.. and people just love to belittle Schoenberg's music. this is real music, and anybody who can't find some sort of excitement listening to it may as well be deaf.
