  • We've just added a new video featuring this Airco DH2 now - please take a look at our channel for more details.

  • Thanks for posting, it's so interesting. But sad there isn't any sound when it taxis and takes off, any possibility of re-loading?. Cheers.

  • Hi there, yes I am sorry about that! I no longer have the video on my phone, but please keep watching our page as I hope to record this aircraft properly shortly and will post something more on here. Many thanks.

  • As you might gather from my YouTube handle- this is one of my favorite aircraft. and I love them all. But this might be my favorite. I also love the fokker Eindecker series and the early Neiuports like the 11 "Bebe". I'm the same way with WWII aircraft- I like the early war stuff like Hurricanes and early Zeros. So much for me- haow about this real Airco D.H.2? Thanks for posting this video.

  • @DH2pilot I love the Eindecker's myself...for that matter all of the WW1 Aircraft! I earn my living building Rotary-Wing Flying Machines and it is my ambition to put together a RagWing Biplane for myself...so many great choices out there, but I'm leaning towards a Jenny Replica...Low and Slow!

  • This is a DH2 from World War 1? I didn't think there were any genuine original examples still around. Unless this is one that a farmer in northern France inadvertantly dug up while he was ploughing.

  • The FE 2b is my favorite aircraft (with the DH2 a close second) thanks for the video!

  • @winterka100 I heard that the DH2 was called the "spinning incinerator" not just for catching fire but also for it's habit of going into uncontrollable spins! Those old rotary engines had a huge amount of torque effect. It's still a great looking aircraft though!!

  • This is great. Thanks for posting.

  • Lucky bastard

  • I may be wrong, but did that aircraft have the nickname "screaming incinerator" because of it's habit of catching on fire , made worse because there were no parachutes used then.

  • @Napalmdog I think you're right there - as far as I know, all the radials of that era were rotary. Never mind the hazards of being an extremely old piece of machinery, a real rotary would make the plane that much harder to fly, so restorations and repros all tend to have more modern engines.

  • I think I would only like to buy one of these for now.

  • Splendid aircraft. Just read the Cecil Lewis book.

  • Question regarding the engine; Is it original? I thought the rotary engine was how these were equipped..
