Once again, here is my original introductory video for YouTube, taped in March, 2007. (This is about the 6th time I've uploaded this!) The audio IS in both channels, by the way...back then I was naive enough to think that you could upload videos in stereo.....

  • What? No HD-DVD or Blu-ray players?

  • I actually did buy an HD DVD player about a year after I shot this video...and sold it within 10 months! Nope, I can't afford to start a collection of BluRay or HD DVDs...just way too expensive for me at this time.

  • You say you bought that Beta machine for 1300 in 1976. 1300 in 1976 dollars is like almost 5000 today. I was just a kid in the 1970s (born in 1969), but I recall the economic times being pretty bad back then, at least from my vantage point. How were you able to afford that? What was your occupation at the time and how much were you earning?

  • In 1976 I was working at a large restaurant/deli on the East side of Cleveland (don't remember at all what I was earning back then), but I did take a part-time job about 5 days a week to help pay for my Betamax!!

  • I've got a question Ray. How long have you been also uploading videos to DailyMotion?

  • For about a year and a half. I actually found DailyMotion thanks to a guy I met on YouTube who is also on DailyMotion!

  • In a word. A.W.S.O.M.E.

  • Betamax for the win!!

  • I love the fact that you want to share your stuff on youtube. THANK YOU! I love it when people do what you do.

  • Do you still have that Replay?

  • Plus there aren't any Blu-ray recorders sold in America yet (although they're sold in Japan, Europe, and Australia).

  • My first Betamax VCR was free, I found it in the attic of my house a few years ago, along with a cardboard box full of brand new sealed tapes. After cleaning the heads and replacing the belts it worked perfectly. It now lives on a shelf next to my TV.
