16 year old Ian at Charlotte Motor Speedway (raw) 4/23/11

This is some raw footage of Ian Turner in the #11 ExFed VW Jetta (1990 16v) at the 14 Hours of Charlotte ChumpCar race at Charlotte Motor Speedway (Lowes Motor Speedway).

(The first 6 or 7 minutes isn't very exciting except for some radio chatter during full course yellow but then starts to crank up and some good racing around halfway through to the end all the way to the pit stop at the end.)

Ian's stint was about 2 hours including a red flag and meeting after a couple cars ran through the barriers in one of the chicanes -- a pretty pricey move since they were fined $500 per broken barrier.

The Jetta ran very well at the start of the race for driver Rob Hall and was at the front of the field but we developed a vibration in the front right. Rob brought the car in and the decision was made to change the right axle. Ian got in after the axle was replaced (an amazingly fast replacement by the ExFed team by the way). This was the first time driving the car for Ian and he did a great job of using the first few laps to get acquainted and then started working his way back through the field.

About an hour into the next driver's stint the car overheated, stalled coming into the pits with and was done for the day.
