  • This is quite remarkable ... please can you tell me if it is available on VHS/DVD ? Many thanks for showing it.

  • @funkyalfonso Yes it was quite thrilling and could not be, would not be and will not be made today - the sessions were the fake investigator quizes the team were expertly written - creating real tension - all there jobs they tjought were on the line but it was all a scam - the actor who was the voice of nuclear attack was Patrick Allen you may also remember he won his spurs as Brett - the renegade financier - another landmark BBC series - sadly wiped.

  • @IrishClaudius I remember that episode too. When he is found out he kills himself and we see his body as the lift doors open. It struck me at the time as not really making sense as it was only industrial espionage and not an SIS spy taking an L pill for his country. The actor who played the spy was the voice of the govertments nuclear defence warning films and it was him we would have geard on the radio if there had been a nuclear 4 minute warning. This show made me become a North Sea diver.

  • Ray Barret was a great star I remember one episode where some big wig (a compnay SPY) visited the London office of Mogul to debrief and investigate the whole team. After getting all the information he could from everyone Barett asks about a favorite haunt which the investigator says he also knew as he had played golf there.

Barrett turns to the camera and announces "there isn't a golf course on the island" they all chase after the man who has just walked into the lift. Brillant!!

  • i remember this show as a boy

  • Kenneth Tynan a Marxist pervert waster that was breeding rapidly at the Oxford of the time.

Why should we value his opinions? Never done a hard days work in his life what did he know about exploitation?

Oh yes I forgot he use to whip his wife.

  • Tom Springfield wrote this theme, post Springfields and as a youngster I always watched the show, though would agree nowadays with Kenneth Tynan's contemparary opinion that it (rightly, probably) showed us Brits in a bad light. We'd given up our colonies but still plundered the world's resouces from our little islands with nobody much to stop us. Somehow, it all seemed much simpler back then...
