Actually that would be 9 degrees east of north. you got it backwords. But it could be written as 81degrees north of east.

Perfectly legitimate way to apply and learn and understand vectors. As a pilot I use this calculation every single flight...now I know the technical way to find my Wind Correction Angle when determining True Course

Might be helpful to explain that when you're drawing your triangle you are reducing your magnitude to a unit magnitude. Otherwise pretty good, especially considering the price! Thanks.
