Mongooses (Herpestidae) are a family of 33 species of small carnivorans. Mongooses have long faces and bodies, small rounded ears, short legs, and long tapering tails. These mongoose usually feed on insects, earthworms and snakes.

So back to the age-old question - is the plural of mongoose mongooses of mongeese? The jury is out...
