I don't have any tabs for Elliott Smith songs, and I really don't want to tab them myself. All I can do to help you is show a closeup video of how I play a certain song, and I hope that can be clear enough for everyone.

********************************************

Open C tuning, again. I admit that I don't know a couple of the chords, such as the second chord after he says "whenever you want to" the first time through the chorus, and the chord during the part where he says "down in the alley" and "smoldering anger." But I feel that it's pretty close to what he plays, although not 100%, if anything, I'd say it's 85% accurate, as I will definitely never conclude that what I'm playing is 100% accurate to what Elliott Smith plays, because he's amazing.

Oh, and I had to sing it in falsetto for most of the song, so the transition from falsetto to normal was a little tricky throughout. I hope you guys enjoy!

  • You sound exactly like McLovin!

  • thanks? if you want to make fun of me, you can do a lot better than that...

  • I've been pausing and re-starting you over and over just to get these chords... you're the first person I've seen (other than Elliott) who uses the proper tuning. Granted, Elliott played it a bit different, but your interpretation is excellent. Now if you didn't play it so fast... slow it down a bit and feel your heart sink ...

  • i learn most of elliott smith's songs by watching his live videos on youtube, which is partly the reason why i tend to speed things up a bit.

i'm also incredibly nervous while recording...

  • why didn't U sing aloud????

  • because then my parents would've wanted me to play for them... ;)

  • very nice. i find more entertaining trying to figure out the chords from this video than reading a tab.
