Someone had asked if I could do longer videos -- since I have two very young kids who enjoy hanging all over me, it's difficult to get enough time to do something like this.

However, I got some time today to sit down and do a once-through each of Tobin's Favorite and Garret Barry's.

Enjoy.

  • Awsome! What kind of Editing software do you use ? :)

  • Video is running through my webcam and the audio is running through my Samson CO1U condensor microphone. I used Windows Movie Maker and processed the audio through Adobe Audition.

  • What type of whistle are you using? And what would you suggest for a beginner who has never played an intstrument before?

  • In this video I'm using a Burke Brass Pro Sessioner in D -- they run about $180.

For a beginner, I recommend a Clarke Sweetone -- these are tin/aluminum whistles which plastic mouthpieces and the mouthpiece (the most important part of the whistle) is of a very good design in a Sweetone. They cost about $8-$12 at most music stores.

If you have a bit more money, google TONY DIXON and order his TRAD whistle -- it runs about $30 USD is a great low/intermediate whistle with a great trad sound.

  • are looking at a tv screen or a computer?

  • This was done with my Logitech webcam -- it looks out of phase because of the stupid color correction that's always auto-adjusting.

  • wauw.. that is very good.. :D

  • @fiskerlord find out what key your whistle is in. either by finding it written, or testing the notes with a chromatic tuner (download one). Then you will know what scale it plays naturally and how to make notes. if it is not in any key (likely scenario with a toy) then buy yourself a whistle - they are as cheap as $4

  • Haha, your child is on the corner? xD
